Wa — Harmony

わたしたちについてWho we are

SANは、千葉県市川市と関東を拠点に、日本人と外国にルーツを持つ住民が共に担うボランティア団体です。違いを認め合い、地域の調和を大切にしています。SAN is a volunteer group based in Ichikawa, Chiba and the wider Kanto region, run together by Japanese residents and residents with roots abroad. We respect differences and value harmony in the community.

Our purpose

私たちの目的は、人道支援ただ一つ。そして日本社会の平和と繁栄を、何よりも大切にしています。Our sole purpose is humanitarian aid, and the peace and prosperity of Japanese society come first.

「サラーム」とは？What does “Salam” mean?

アラビア語で「平和・安らぎ」。日本語の「和」に通じる言葉です。It means peace and calm in Arabic, close to the Japanese word 和 (harmony).

災害支援・防災Disaster relief

被災地での炊き出し・片付け、防災訓練での通訳。Relief meals and clean-up in affected areas; interpreting at disaster drills.

食料・生活支援Food & living

フードバンク・子ども食堂への協力。Supporting food banks and children’s cafeterias.

相談・通訳Advice & interpreting

日本語・英語・ウルドゥー語・アラビア語で、暮らし・家族・法律の相談。専門家へもおつなぎします。Life, family and legal advice in Japanese, English, Urdu and Arabic, with referral to experts.

学びと子どもLearning

日本語・学習支援、学校での異文化授業。Japanese and study support; cross-cultural talks at schools.

人権・差別の解消Human rights

差別・ヘイトの相談と啓発活動。Help with discrimination and hate, and awareness work.

人と地域をつなぐConnecting people

日本人も、外国にルーツを持つ人も、この国に暮らす隣人です。分断ではなく、肩を並べて、まちを良くしていきたい。Japanese residents and residents with roots abroad are neighbours. Side by side, we want to make our town a better place.

活動を考えるとき、私たちは三つの問いを大切にしています。すべてに「はい」と言えることだけを行います。Before we take on any activity, we ask three questions. We only go ahead when the answer to all three is yes.
